In the two weeks since the first Presidential debate, I’ve noticed that my liberal friends here on NV have been quiet. At least they’ve been quiet where I am concerned. I sense that they dislike the fact that their candidate did so poorly in the first debate and they have spent their time since then meditating or whatever liberals do in lieu of praying for a miracle in the second. They might be busy doing affirmations around the polling numbers…oh. Wait. That would mean they would be affirming a Romney win. Nah. They won’t be affirming that anytime soon.
It’s time for me to send a little good will their way.
Since the Christmas retail season is already upon us…how did that happen, anyway? Didn’t we use to wait until AFTER Halloween before we drug out the Christmas trees?...and the yuletide trappings are everywhere I look on Main Street, I plan to get into the spirit early. Even though the Christmas shopping season seems to have trumped my favorite Election season, I’m pleased to report that clever entrepreneurial types have combined the two seasons in such a way that I can have the best of both worlds. And, so can my liberal buddies here on NV.
For example, I’ve found places that offer Christmas ornaments featuring lovely photos of the Obama family for those who want a collector’s item to commemorate the last Obama Christmas in the White House. (Remember the first one? In 2009 the White House Christmas tree featured ornaments bearing the image of Chinese Communist terrorist Mao Tse-Tung? That year there were also ornaments on the people’s tree with pictures of Mount Rushmore with Obama’s face added to the statuary. Those might also be available somewhere on the internet but, sorry, I’m not looking for them. I like the REAL Rushmore much better.)
This year, instead of the usual gold balls and cranberry garland on my tree, I’m going Americana. I’m going to do my decorating in Red, White and Blue to celebrate our re-surging nation. I’m going to celebrate the economic recovery which will begin as soon as the votes are counted and Mitt Romney becomes the President Elect. I’m going to hang little gilded dollar symbols on my tree and replace the glittery word ornaments (which say, Noel and Believe) with the words Jobs and Prosperity. After the Romney victory the “Joy” ones will be particularly appropriate.
I wonder where I can find a “Thank you, Jesus” ornament?
